About Yoto Limiter
What it is
Yoto Limiter sets daily play-time limits and allowed hours for Yoto players. It watches the player through Yoto's cloud and pauses it when today's time is used up, or when it is outside the hours you allow. From your phone you can add time, take time away, or pause the player right now.
Why I made it
I'm Gonçalo, a parent. My kid was on the Yoto player all day, and I needed a way to get them off it without a daily argument. I couldn't find one that did what I wanted, so I built this. I'm sharing it in case other parents have the same problem.

What you can do
- Set a daily limit in minutes, with different limits for each day of the week.
- Allow playback only between certain hours, for example nothing before 07:00 or after 20:00.
- Decide how each card counts: against the daily limit, exempt (good for bedtime stories), or with its own daily budget.
- See the last 14 days of listening, by day and by card.
- Look after several players, and share a player with another parent or caregiver.
Sharing
A player can be shared with other accounts through a one-time invite link. An owner can change limits, cards and sharing. A member can see the player, add or take away time, and pause it.
How it works, and its limits
You connect your Yoto account by signing in on Yoto's own page, so your Yoto password never reaches this site. The server then keeps a connection to your player. When the player is playing while over its limit or outside the allowed hours, the server tells it to pause, and pauses it again if playback is restarted.
This means limits are only enforced while the server, Yoto's cloud and the player's connection are all working. If one of them is down or the player is offline, it cannot be paused. The site warns you when a player has been unreachable for a while. Treat it as a helpful guardrail, not a lock.
Your data
- Account: your email address, a salted hash of your password (Argon2id), and a hash of your recovery code. Neither the password nor the code can be read back.
- Yoto connection: a token that lets the server talk to your players, stored encrypted and used for nothing else.
- Players: their names, your limits and card rules, and daily play time per card for up to 90 days. Card titles are looked up from Yoto.
- Cookies: one cookie that keeps you signed in. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and this site loads nothing from other companies.
- Email: none is ever sent, and no email address is shared with anyone.
- Who sees what: people you share a player with can see its usage and card names. Owners of a player can see the email addresses of everyone it is shared with.
Removing a player (Settings, then Stop limiting this player) deletes its limits and history. You can delete your whole account in Settings. If you sign in with Google, the app only receives your verified email and Google account ID. Read the privacy policy.
