Share Yoto controls

When a grandparent or another carer looks after your child, they may need to add a few minutes, or pause the player. You can share a player with them through an invite link, without sharing your password or your Yoto account.

What you need

Sharing is part of Plus; see plans and prices. The person you share with needs a Yoto Limiter account of their own, which is free to create. They do not need a Yoto account or a Yoto player.

Send an invite

Open the app, choose the player and go to Settings, then Sharing.
Choose Create invite link and copy it.
Send it to them in a message.
They open the link after signing in or creating an account, and the player appears in their app.

The link works once and expires in 7 days. If it goes to the wrong person, or expires, create another.

What a grandparent can do

By default they are a member. A member can see the player, add or take away time for today, and pause it. They cannot change the limits, hours, cards or sharing, so the rules you set stay as you set them.

If you want them to change the limits as well, tick Can also change limits and sharing (owner) before you create the invite. An owner can do everything you can.

What they can see

People you share a player with can see its usage and card names. Owners can see the email address of everyone the player is shared with. Your Yoto password and connection are never shared.

Stop sharing

In Sharing, remove the person from the list. They lose access to the player.

Good to know

Time added is capped each day, so a generous carer can only go so far. The cap is 120 minutes a day by default.
Each person sees times in their own time zone; the limits follow the household's.
